Bowl of Porridge

With a bowl, rather full of porridge moving around the dish and milk threatening to spill over the edge, I gingerly walked from kitchen to dining room. My thoughts fearful of spilling it all over the carpet. I suddenly switched thoughts as I remembered how we create our own reality and by focusing on avoiding spilling it I would probably get what I didnt want. So I changed the picture in my head and saw at the table eating the bowl of porridge that had safely made it. Immediately my posture changed and I found myself stopping to look at where I wanted to put the bowl and seeing what obstacles were in my way. I then proceded and with a couple more stops I arrived safely and ate the porridge - mmm delicious.
What I got in those moments of stopping was the fact that it is okay to stop and review a situation as well as the importance of it. In stopping it meant I was able to look up from the bowl and hold it still at the same time. I was able to see which way I needed to go in order to get to my destination, ascertain the best direction to head in so that I would be able to manouver my way round the chairs and clothes hanger in my path. If I had just carried on regardless I may have collided with them, knocked something, lost sight of how I needed to move the bowl in order to dance with the effects my walking was having on the movement of the contents of the bowl and resulted in milk and porridge all over the floor.
I found myself linking this to my goals and anchoring in the importance of allowing myself to stop and refocus before moving again. That it is okay for me to take time out and not to be constantly doing or nagging my self to keep on going - being still and in the moment allows for calmness and harmony to be present and sight of a clear direction to open up.
How many times do we run around like headless chickens unable to stop just keeping on going and wondering why we get such a headache and keep having things not go as we would like them to?
How many times do we berate ourselves for not being efficient with a task or getting a task complete when we wanted to.?
So allow yourself a pause for thought - stop, breath, look, feel, think, breath, adjust, breath and move and experience life differently.
